Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in driving growth and managing key relationships in the Individual Insurance sector? We are thrilled to announce the opportunity for a dynamic Head of Retail Accounts to join our team. As the Head of Retail Accounts, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth plans, managing relationships, and executing strategies with our Retail Account Distributors within the Individual Insurance sector. This includes working with national MGA firms, Bank firms, and Dealer firms.

In this key role, you will collaborate with stakeholders to maximize sales and foster strong partnerships, leveraging innovative approaches and existing infrastructure to drive sales growth and expand our distribution reach. Your leadership will be instrumental in cultivating a high-performance sales culture and nurturing the development of our team.

Key Accountabilities

1). Retail Account Distributor

  • Execute comprehensive strategy for Retail Account Distributors to drive business growth and market penetration.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong internal and external relationships to maximize results and partnerships with Retail Accounts.

  • Build and nurture strong and collaborative relationships with industry organizations to stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities, while also positioning the company as a leader within the industry.

  • Ensure effective management of Distributor contracts and Marketing Allowance Programs to optimize resources and drive business outcomes.

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive quarterly reports to senior leadership at retail account firms, providing insights, performance metrics and strategic recommendations.

2). Field Readiness

  • Lead and oversee the Insurance Field Readiness program, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure effective field readiness for distribution partners, advisors, and the sales team.

3). Leadership & People Development

  • Foster effective people leadership and employee engagement through coaching, mentorship, and enhancing sales capabilities.

  • Lead and inspire the team to achieve business objectives, promoting a culture of excellence, teamwork, and high performance.

  • Drive a culture of continuous learning, growth, and accountability, creating an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and professional development.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience with proven expertise in insurance

  • 5+ years of leadership experience within a large organization

  • Professional designations such as CFP, CLU, CH.FC, CHS, along with a post-secondary degree in business

  • Demonstrated leadership success in multi-stakeholder environments

  • In-depth understanding of insurance products and distribution landscape in Canada

  • Strong internal motivation to develop sales strategies and challenge the status quo

  • Ability to collaborate with teams, businesses, and external partners to execute business development opportunities

  • Diplomacy and conflict management skills

  • Effective interpersonal skills across different levels of an organization

  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills, as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills to work with senior management at all levels

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide actionable recommendations based on analysis

  • Demonstrated financial acumen and the ability to analyze opportunities for economic feasibility

  • Working knowledge of regulatory issues impacting the insurance business

  • Bilingualism in French and English – an asset.
