Overview

The Manager, Data Governance, GBM Data Office contributes to the overall success of the Global Banking and Markets Data Office ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. As this Manager, you will ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

  • Ensure business stakeholder understanding, alignment and commitment to the objectives of the data governance and management program.

  • Understand business requirements and aligns them to the objectives of the data management program.

  • Design and document business requirements and functional requirements to support data-related initiatives for consumer data domains, including Anti-Money Laundering and their associated business areas/processes.

  • Conduct root cause analysis of data quality issues raised through automated validation rules and self-identified issues raised by data stewards, data consumers, and data producers.

  • Support data stewards in managing data governance and data management practices within their data domains and facilitate cross-domain initiatives and activities, as necessary.

  • Monitor data quality dashboards and exception reports, performing analysis to identify trends in data quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, establish data quality themes, and determine course(s) of action, creating action plans to resolve open items.

  • Support business and regulatory initiatives driven by the Bank’s data management framework.

  • Perform data validation and testing activities by understanding attribute mappings and lineage.

  • Assist with Data Office Annual Attestations and training requirements.

  • Prepare presentation materials for working groups and committee meetings

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience, preferably in a bank / financial institution

  • Global Banking and Markets experience or Capital Markets experience an asset

  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting and business processes an asset

  • Experience in Regulations and Matters Requiring Attention an asset
