Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

As part of MSU Extension (MSUE) and the Community, Food and Environment Institute (CFEI), this position provides local as well as statewide leadership and educational programming expertise in local government, public policy, and other community vitality programs and partnerships. This position will have statewide responsibilities and will collaborate across work teams, Institutes, and community groups, working with faculty, specialists, and educators for overall advancement of the needs of the Institute clientele.

 

In this position, along with others on the Good Governance team, you will identify, design, implement and evaluate research-based educational programs that meet current and projected outreach needs related to local appointed and elected officials, municipal finance, and best practices in local government management. Through your leadership, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop and deliver educational initiatives that support Michigan communities and local and tribal government. Examples include (but are not limited to): training for newly elected officials, best practices in local financial management, strategic planning, and good governance practices for appointed and elected boards.

 

Through collaboration in research, engagement with community members, and dissemination of research-based information through various methods, including in-person and multimedia programming and written communications, you will explore and implement programs that lead to public knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that  support local elected and appointed officials in the stewardship of human and financial resources and support thriving communities.
