Ai Signal Research, Inc. (ASRI) Engineering Technician I - Materials Lab in Huntsville, Alabama

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Months/Years of Experience:

One (1) year of applicable experience in engineering technical work that developed skills in making measurements using test instruments and computing; or two (2) years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school.

Required Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship. A valid driver's license. Must have or be able to acquire a security clearance.

Skills Needed:

Position will require both laboratory bench and outdoor field workas well as manual lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work as a team member in a collaborative effort, taking initiative at times when direction is implicit.

Duties:

Performing engineering technician tasks in support of aviation test programs. Responsible for sectioning ferrous, and non-ferrous metals including aluminum, cobalt, nickel, magnesium, and titanium alloys. Will be learning hot and cold mounting techniques, and knowledge of type(s) of mounting techniques used for specific materials and what conditions to avoid to prevent microstructural changes. Will be tasked with learning grinding and polishing techniques with knowledge of type(s) of polishing techniques used for specific materials, as well asmicro structural etching techniques to include chemical and electrolytic techniques. An optical emission spectroscopy (OES) will be used to determine the elemental composition of a variety of metal and alloys. The use of chemicals (including acids, bases, and corrosives); proper mixing procedures for chemicals; lab hygiene; lab safety; radiation protocol; proper selection of person protective equipment (PPE); safety data sheet (SDS) interpretation; chemical storage; and waste disposal will be part of a typical workday.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook desired.

Comments:
