Job Summary:
The Womens Health Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who provides routine womens health care and management of patients with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and Clinical director Womens Health.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Evaluates and treats patients with acute and chronic complaints in accordance to written standards.
- Obtains complex histories and performs patient physical exams with assessment of normal or abnormal findings on patients according to written procedures.
- Perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders laboratory studies, radiology exams, EKGs and other special exams in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care;
- Counsels patients on medical problems, use of drugs, expected effects of treatment, family planning, child care, diet, and other therapeutic health maintenance matters. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Carry out patient care services, maintains a record of the patient\'s progress, and consult with supervising physician when patient\'s progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
- Orders and furnishes medications according to written standards.
- Documents patient assessments and intervention data using established EMR practices.
- Instructs other members of the health care team. Instructs other personnel assigned to health care team on preventive medicine programs and other appropriate medical activities and functions, or as directed by a physician.
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
