Job Title: Global Director of Finance (Finance Business Partnering)

At ICON, we have an incredible opportunity for a Global Finance Director within our Business Partnering team located out of our Global Head Quarters in Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

Role Summary:

The Financial Business Partnering group is a global team providing financial analysis & support to the global services lines within ICON. You will be pivotal in providing objective financial and consulting services shaping the strategy for ICON business growth & success.

This key position gives you opportunity and visibility to partner with the SLT and Operational leadership and teams’ within the Global Large Pharma group of ICON. This is one of the largest business units with ICON plc.

The role is to provide strategic leadership and analysis, to be a trusted adviser and to add value and partner in decision-making which are at the heart of successful Finance Business Partnering.

Oversight and Leadership

The Global Finance Director will be responsible for people leadership and development within the Finance Business Partnering group. The Finance Business Partnering team consists of like-minded ambitious and talented financial professionals, the director role is responsible for leading and representing this group.

Role responsibilities:

  • Experienced at managing complex functional areas/business units with multiple service lines/departments.

  • Expected to provide analysis, interpretation, and advice on large scale strategy decisions to the SLT and Service Line VP

  • Expected to contribute to the financial & business strategy in both global and regional environments, which in turn will impact the success of the business unit

  • Delivering key reports such as Quarterly Business Reviews and Budgets to the ICON PLC CEO and CFO

  • Demonstrate exemplary people management and leadership skills building a highly skilled team that will enable ICON to meet the business growth projections.

  • Commercially aware, understanding and anticipating the needs of both operations and management.

  • Successful finance business partnering is a way of thinking, at the heart of which is problem-solving.

What you will need:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, etc.) or relevant years’ experience

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial analysis or financial analysis and planning.

  • Experience in managing functional areas, service lines and teams.

  • Results-focused - understands what is important to senior management and the wider community of employees.

  • A self-confident, decisive personality whose superior interpersonal skills invite participation and engagement through effective communication and the ability to influence and negotiate.

  • An accomplished leader with a reputation for tenacity, determination and professionalism while able to accommodate compromise.

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization with the capability to build solid, lasting, trust-based working partnerships.
