JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to Human Resources (NORC People), the Director of Employee Experience will play a crucial role in shaping this new position and its function. You will actively partner with NORC People colleagues, leadership, and staff throughout NORC to build and enhance a healthy workplace culture focused on excellence, collegiality, belonging, connection, and continual learning. This role is essential in helping NORC navigate the evolving workplace landscape to remain competitive and an employer of choice.

The successful candidate will build, cultivate, and strengthen the NORC employee experience from first contact and throughout an employee's tenure. As a NORC People senior leadership team member, you will apply your expertise to help create memorable and meaningful employee experiences and use data and analytics to lead a comprehensive employee milestone survey program, including the biennial companywide employee engagement survey. You will work with stakeholders throughout NORC to design and implement programs and initiatives to address learnings from these employee surveys.

The Director of Employee Experience will assess, reinvigorate, and lead our existing staff engagement and employee recognition programs, emphasizing meeting the needs of a distributed workforce. Essential to this activity is partnering with NORC leadership, employee resource groups, departments, and employees across the country to identify and create meaningful touchpoints throughout the calendar year. You will bring a spirit of experimentation, innovation, and evaluation, as well as fun, connection, and meaning to large and small engagements. 

DEPARTMENT: NORC People

The NORC People department supports NORC's mission and values by collaborating with research, operations, and administrative departments to recruit, develop, and retain top staff. Because NORC is a government contractor, the NORC People team plays a large role ensuring that all staff information and systems remain secure and that our organization is fully compliant with our policies. NORC People is responsible for talent acquisition, hiring, benefits administration, employee relations matters, and performance evaluation programs to ensure our organization is maintaining compliance while keeping employees’ best interests in mind.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, implement, and lead a successful employee experience program, using established best practices and innovations to attract, engage, and retain talented staff.

  • Design and administer employee milestone surveys; analyze the data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges associated with staff retention.

  • Lead the creation of the biennial employee engagement survey, deployment, analysis, reporting, and follow-up actions.

  • Develop and implement a meaningful corporate staff engagement strategy in collaboration with NORC leadership, strategic internal communications and events teams, and other stakeholders. The strategy will include in-person and virtual programs, gatherings, and touchpoint events.

  • Serve as a resource, support, and collaborator on departmental employee engagement strategies, developing mechanisms for regular sharing of learning among senior leadership.

  • Help define, educate, and internally promote the One NORC philosophy, which focuses on creating equitable opportunities for connection and career growth and recognition of the valuable contributions of all employees to the organization's success.

  • Develop reward and recognition programs across the organization to support NORC’s overarching employee experience goals in collaboration with NORC People colleagues.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Have five or more years of relevant human resources or consulting experience.

  • Hold a master's degree in (one of the following) human resources, organizational management, business administration, industrial psychology, organizational behavior.

  • Demonstrate success in developing, implementing, and measuring employee experience and engagement strategy.

  • Possesses the ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across all levels of the organization and multiple offices.

  • Demonstrate program and project management experience.

  • Capable of using quantitative and qualitative data for informed decision-making.

  • Exhibit exceptional oral, written communication, and presentation skills.

  • Understand the need to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
