Market Segment Manager, Building Envelope and Infrastructure - Charlotte, NC

The Construction Solutions Group is dedicated to bringing innovative formulated solutions to our customers in the construction industry by combining the entire BASF portfolio of products and services.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team focused on driving growth in the Building Envelope and Infrastructure industry segments of Construction Solutions.

The Building Envelope and Infrastructure industry segments are together positioned for strong growth, built on a foundation of customer intimacy and industry-shaping relationships, technical leadership, and value-driven innovation.

In this key role, you will lead strategic direction and operational execution of marketing activities, aligning business and functional teams around segment growth and innovation targets. This includes conducting market research to understand “voice-of-customer” insights, analyzing and segmenting markets and building robust go-to-market strategies, and leading new product development and innovation pipeline projects. You will manage the segment’s portfolio strategy and positioning, with a keen focus on developing and promoting differentiated value-propositions. The value you drive will be measurable directly in your impact to the segment volume and margin, and you will have an opportunity for high visibility within the Dispersions North America business.

Travel up to 25% domestically may be required in this role.

Formula for Success:

  • Applying your education and experience in marketing, sales, product management, technical service, business development, business management or other business functions, you will develop market segment strategy and lead its implementation in partnership with Sales and Technical colleagues.

  • Demonstrating your ability to analyze and segment markets, select target products, and prepare and execute business strategies, you will assess the competitive and customer landscapes, as well as existing product and segment portfolios, to develop the roadmap for sustainable and differentiated innovation. This includes managing existing portfolios to optimize profitability and positioning, identifying industry specific trends, understanding unmet customer needs, identifying key growth areas and opportunity fields, and developing differentiated value propositions.

  • Using entrepreneurial drive, project management experience, and your solid business acumen, initiate and lead innovation and business development projects from ideation to successful product launch.

  • Successfully engaging stakeholders within the organization, design and lead execution of the assigned segment’s channel strategy, including developing go-to-market plans, sales tools, and training / promotional materials for existing portfolios and new product launches in partnership with direct and channel partners.

  • Working as a highly motivated self-starter, collect, validate, maintain, and update market & competitive intelligence per assigned industry segment. Additionally, you will understand value propositions and partner with Product Management to ensure accurate industry specific pricing targets are implemented.

  • Your outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills will serve you well as you organize and participate in customer and industry specific trade shows / fairs and ensure representation in key industry associations.
