About the role
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the markets’ direct tax processes
(including Corporate Income Tax, Transfer Pricing and other supplementary returns) are undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation and outsourcing where applicable) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to.
The role will lead the implementation and ensure ongoing operation of the
Global Direct Tax processes, controls and automation tools for their market.
Job Dimensions Scope of role covers coordinating the preparation and review of CIT, and connected returns and supporting the transfer pricing cycle. This requires interaction with the Direct Tax Seniors and Analysts, a number of functions including both markets and central functions with a special focus on statutory compliance and financial controlling teams. The role will have a direct
conversation with Tax business partners and Global SME -s relevant for her/his
area.
The role has responsibility for leading the CIT and TP compliance preparation for the market under her/his responsibility including the execution of process improvements and managing the CIT risk agenda for the relevant markets. Diageo direct tax charge is £1bn globally. You will manage
only the element that is connected to the markets/region you support
What you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that CIT returns, transfer pricing processes and connected
supplementary returns are prepared according to the global standard
process and controls, local DTP-s, on time and utilising automation
tools where applicable.
- Managing routine CIT, TP and other direct tax related audit enquiries
and projects for your markets.
- Ensuring compliance with market specific regulatory requirements
and legislative changes working closely with Tax Business partner and
Outsourced Service provider and her/his team.
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring these are done on
time and in an internal and external control compliant way.
Coordinating the BS reconciliation preparation and review process.
- Actively managing and coordinating tax document retention for your
markets.
- Working with the Global Outsource Provider on Tax reporting
processes including:
• Classification and input of permanent and temporary differences
into Tax Provision Tool (OTP) for reporting
- Driving continuous process improvement through establishing a LEAN
approach to drive effectiveness and efficiency - supporting process
improvements and rollout of standardised processes and automation
in the region.
- Supporting business projects for market by providing SME input and
working with the market tax business partners to support tax led
projects
Responding to market queries in a timely manner
Support training and any other kinds of technical support to the
whole team and to other departments.
What you'll bring
- Ideally minimum 4-5 years’ relevant tax experience in SSC and/or
FMCG/Big 4 advisory environment
- Experience at an operational level in direct tax, controls and risk
management
Experience with transitions and project management is an advantage
Experience in working with integrated software system (SAP) is an
advantage
Experience of Tax Reporting and IFRS is an advantage
Experience in working with markets that have highly complex legislation is an advantage
