Do you have a gift for building communication strategies that connect people's day-to-day work to a company’s vision?

Are you passionate about helping people grow in their careers?

POWER Engineers is a fast-growing, employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm. We’re making the move to a more flexible workforce across our 45+ offices and are looking for a great communicator to help keep our employees well informed.

About you:

  • You’re someone who seeks to understand the communication needs of stakeholders and your audiences

  • You’re passionate about figuring out what makes people tick so you can engage your audience to achieve your communication goals

What you’ll do:

At POWER, we have a number of internal stakeholders in a variety of roles and responsibilities. They all work hard to make our firm successful. This means they have projects to complete and goals to achieve. When they’re ready to communicate to the company to achieve their goals, they’ll turn to you for help.

  • You’ll make it a point to build relationships with these stakeholders over time, even before they need you

  • You’ll lead and facilitate communication strategy sessions and develop plans that will help stakeholders achieve their short- and long-term goals

  • You figure out the best communication activities to influence your audience to act, think and connect to a greater purpose

  • At times, you’ll edit copy, write copy, develop new content and ghost write articles

  • When analytics are available, you’ll utilize them to measure the effectiveness of a communication and continuously improve

  • You’ll maintain a high level of training on the latest technology and trends for corporate internal communications

  • You’ll collaborate with public relations and marketing experts to adjust your messaging if and when it’s ready to go external

  • You’ll supervise a team of communications professionals who manage our channels and support our communications goals

  • You’ll be a student of POWER’s history, culture and brand

  • You’ll also learn about POWER’s business operations, services and client industries to the degree necessary to do a great job

The basics:

  • You analyze and develop the short- or long-term communication messaging and channel strategy needed to meet those goals

  • You are highly self-motivated and well organized

  • You can write clearly and concisely

  • You identify and deploy the right voice/tone for the purpose

  • You know that the first question to ask for every communications’ request is…? Tell us!

  • You can tell stories that persuade and, equally important, can pull persuasive stories out of stakeholders

  • You have a keen attention to detail

  • You don’t miss deadlines

  • You know it’s about the communication, not you. So, you can take direction, receive critical feedback, and embrace other’s points of view

Desired Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English/Rhetoric Education, Engineering or a related field

  • 10 years of related experience

  • 5+ years of management experience
