Director of Construction Procurement will be responsible for leading Micron Fab Expansion Project in Syracuse, New York.

The Director of Construction procurement must be a creative, energetic, and results driven thinker, highly organized, an excellent problem solver, and have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Oversees award of the contracts related to this project, buyout execution, change order management, project close out and reporting on Procurement Activities throughout project duration. This role from time to time will also take on and lead specific expansion related activities, community engagement or other special assignments.

Responsibilities will also include being responsible for activities related to the procurement of materials, parts, components, and equipment. Advises the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives. Reviews and approves purchases up to a specified dollar amount. May negotiate major contracts involving large dollar amounts. Develops policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities. Monitors the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major subcontracts. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels. May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Builds network internally and externally to ensure customer alignment on key issues.

  • Participate and actively lead the project overall, including reporting to the Micron Procurement leadership on wins and progress.

  • Ensure the greatest value of each major construction contract which requires strong sourcing (negotiating), contracting, supplier management, contract administration (including claim management) skills.

  • Crafting, evaluating, negotiating, and implementing a contract for design and construction for the project.

  • Review and leads all aspects of due diligence performed on recommended awards of cost of work packages from General Contractor to subcontractors. and change order cost validation.

  • Review and supervises due diligence performed on cost validation and entitlement of change orders, claims and project close out.

  • Maintain records of correspondence and documentation related to Procurement Plan, Reports, Buyout, Change Order Management and Project Close Out

  • Coordinate negotiations, estimates, and review of all change orders and project variance notices (including forecasting of Request for Information impact against project budget, forecast, and schedule and impact against contingency)

  • Report clear updates and KPIs on the contract execution (e.g., key data from change order and project variance notices, contract expended, committed, and forecast against budget)

  • Facilitates strategic planning process for construction project ensuring alignment of procurement initiatives to the company strategy

  • Provide up to date market intelligence on the contracting market in the US

  • Problem solves any contracted-related issues or concerns with key team members internally or with other parties

  • Builds alignment and accountability through clear goals that align team members' contributions with goals and metrics; ensures alliances between people, processes, and strategies to drive flawless execution of business objectives.

  • Govern functional processes by developing business rules that drive consistent interpretation of performance of construction projects and ensure understanding of expectations

  • Facilitates and coordinates Department meetings, Leadership staff meetings, offsite staff meeting, and celebrations

  • Prepares presentations and backup materials for exec. report outs including data collection, notes, key points, storyline, etc.

How To Qualify:

15 years of experience managing contracts or projects for large-scale construction projects, preferably in the sophisticated technology manufacturing space (e.g., semiconductor, battery) or equivalent, highly skilled in Excel, PowerPoint, have managed a team of 4+ individual contributors prior, etc.

This role is a great role to gain exposure and experience growth toward more senior leadership roles in Procurement at Micron.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$143,000.00 - $250,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
