Summary
Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan seeks a Community Projects Fellow to join our team in partnership with The Ownership Initiative. You will focus on advancing policies and programs for the local contractor workforce to support Detroit's housing market. Specifically, you will lead the scaling of the Motor City Contractor Fund program starting in Summer 2024. This one-year fellowship offers exposure to community development professionals, policymakers, and program administrators in Detroit, along with mentorship from U-M staff and faculty researchers. You will report to the Founder and CEO of The Ownership Initiative and receive secondary support from Poverty Solutions.

Responsibilities*
Community engagement : The fellow will work closely with TOI to understand and implement TOI's community-led design methods to scale the MCCF program. In alignment with these methods, the fellow will assist TOI with activities including meeting facilitation, stakeholder and program participant outreach and follow-up, interviews and surveys.
Project management : Under the direction of TOI, the fellow will take responsibility for managing timelines, collaborating with others to meet project goals, prepare deliverables, and communicate about project progress among critical stakeholders.
Program Evaluation and Analysis : The fellow will be tasked with leading and reporting on ongoing process evaluation to understand the way the MCCF program rollout is working in comparison to original plans, identify areas for increased efficiency and alignment to program objectives and make recommendations for ongoing adjustments. The fellow will also support data collection efforts for eventual evaluation of program outcomes.
Writing and dissemination : The fellow will collaborate with Poverty Solutions to leverage their experience in the Fellowship to inform a research agenda that is supportive of efforts to bolster economic mobility in Detroit. At the end of the fellowship, the fellow will co-author, or author, a written product that encapsulates key learnings and recommendations and/or outcomes from the Fellowship.As time permits, the fellow may support other workforce development projects aimed at bolstering the contractor ecosystem.
Required Qualifications*
Graduate-level degree in public policy, education, public health, social work, political science, economics or a relevant social science discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate level: undergraduate-level degree in public policy, education, public health, social work, political science, economics or a relevant social science discipline
Experience writing for a public and/or public-sector audience and synthesizing research and quantitative data into coherent and policy-relevant messages.
Knowledge of social science research methods and concepts; understanding of program evaluation concepts and practices and principles of community engagement

Familiarity with local/state/federal policymaking processes, funding mechanisms, and social program delivery.
Underfill Statement
This position may be filled at the associate level, with a salary range of $50,000 to $58,000, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
